6G research gets €130 million EU funding boost in Europe
The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has announced the 27 winners of its second call for proposals, with a €130 million funding boost.
The findings from a survey of 156 US enterprises regarding their Information & Communications Technology (ICT) investment trends. The survey investigates how US enterprises currently allocate their ICT budgets across the core areas of enterprise ICT spend, namely hardware, software, IT services, communications and consulting. The report illustrates the core technologies enterprises are investing in, including the likes of mobility, communications & collaboration, green IT & virtualization, and cloud computing. The survey also highlights the approach adopted by enterprises in the US to purchase technology.

Overall spending on information and communications technology (ICT) across the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa (META) will top $238 billion in 2024, an increase of 4.5% over 2023. That's according to the latest predictions presented last week by International Data Corporation (IDC) as more than 400 senior executives from the region's most influential technology vendors, telecommunications operators, and IT service providers gathered at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre on February 1 for the 2024 edition of IDC Directions Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa.
Announcing its regional forecasts for the year ahead, IDC revealed that it expects telecommunications services spending to increase 5% year on year (YoY) in 2024 to reach $133 billion, with IT spending set to grow 3.9% YoY to $105 billion. As META's digital economy increasingly takes shape, IDC forecasts that digital transformation spending in the region will top $59 billion in 2024 and accelerate at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15% over the coming years to cross the $88 billion mark in 2027.
